How is 4Vie Different to Social Housing?
Social housing serves a purpose, but is rationed and only available to those considered most vulnerable financially, medically or otherwise, and is overseen and regulated by the government. There are millions of people excluded from it because they are not considered vulnerable enough. The TV programme 'How to Get a Council House' shows how it works.
Over 6 million people live in the private rented sector - many more than in the social housing sector. You can read a selection of their experiences here.
4Vie will be open to all of those who are who are locked out of home ownership; stuck in expensive, insecure and poor quality private renting; or don't qualify for social housing offered by councils or housing associations.
Somewhere safe, secure, and affordable to call home. Somewhere to put down roots. For the long or short term.
Everyone and anyone over 18 who has no other interest in a property ( ie owned/leasehold) and can afford the rent.
Rents will start at 35% of average local incomes for those with below average incomes.
Those with higher incomes will pay the full rent, but still benefit from no up front fees, long term tenancies, affordable rents, and an ethical landlord.
